Cancelled: Storytelling in the Enchanted Milntown Woods

Tue, 10 Apr 2018 , 2.00pm and 2.30pm
I am so sorry to announce the we are going to have to cancel tomorrow's story telling event - the weather is looking poor again and our story teller has lost her voice!

We had some lovely comments from last week's event so we hope to carry these on throughout the summer... please keep an eye out for dates and times!

The cafe is open and our Easter Bunny Hunt is still taking place so there's plenty to occupy your little ones for a short time!

Did you know that it is considered unlucky to bring daffodils into a farmhouse before Easter?

This is just one of the old Manx customs that will be explored by Sue Woolley in an afternoon of storytelling for children at the Fairy King Bench in the enchanted Milntown woods, on Tuesday April 3rd and Tuesday April 10th.

Manx fairy tales will be the theme and the stories will be suitable for little ones aged from four upwards.

Sue has had a long career as a journalist on the local papers and is the author of ‘My Grandmother’s Cook Book’ and ‘Peeps into the Past’. She is fascinated by the richness of the Island’s history, culture and folklore and hopes to pass on her enthusiasm to others, especially children.

Sessions will be run at 2pm and 2.30pm and will last 15minutes. They are free to attend but normal garden admission fees apply.

The story telling will take place around the Fairy King Bench - it will be 'first come-first served' on the seats, but there is plenty of standing or sitting space for adults and children around the bench, so bring a blanket and a snack and come and have a listen to Sue as she explores some Manx fairy tales.
