Milntown Estate Public Walk - Help Needed

Wed, 25 Oct 2017

Here at Milntown we have grand plans to develop a free public and educational walk around the picturesque parts of the estate which will open up views of the house and encourage greater use of the estate.

Our aim is to encourage local residents to enjoy and experience the outdoors and visit some attractive but rarely used parts of the Milntown Estate. As well as being educational for children, the project will also promote fitness for the whole family.

Our project has been approved by Aviva Community Projects and we are looking for your votes to help us win funding towards the project.

So please - cast your (10) votes and spread the word (Please note when you finish registering you will be taken back to the project screen and will have to switch the location to Isle of Man from the UK to find our project).

Summary of Project:

Develop a free public walk around the picturesque parts of the estate and open up views of the house to encourage greater use of the estate

What is Proposed:

We will make a new bridge across the stream (a 7 metre span) and refurbish the existing one, lay properly drained paths through normally boggy parts of the proposed walk. Local school children will help plant bulbs on the route. We hope to work with the probation service to clear significantly overgrown proportions. Write and erect information boards on flora & fauna.

Our aim is to encourage local residents to enjoy and experience the outdoors and visit some attractive but rarely used parts of the Milntown Estate. We would like to provide an informative and beautiful walk which will appeal to the whole family and, one which the local school children can be proud of what they have helped to create and come back year after year to watch it develop. As well as being educational for children, it will also promote fitness for the family.
