This year our wonderful garden team have helped year 5 of Bunscoill Rhumsaa with their topic ‘sow, grow and farm’ in our veg garden.

As part of this we built a raised bed for each class to grow a variety of produce including lettuce, spinach, radish, chard, tomatoes and spring onions.

Our Team guided them through sowing seeds and caring for their plants as they grew. We helped them construct tepee’s to grow runner beans and cucumbers up and on their last visit we helped them harvest their crops and delivered them to the school so they could be divided up and taken home.

We also had a Reception group join us as part of their topic ‘Sunshine and Sunflowers’ to grow sunflowers as well as getting stuck in with growing carrots, onions, beetroot & Marigold!
