Finally, it feels like spring is here and the gardens are full of new blooms daily. The Camellia and Rhododendron collections are a glorious sight at this time of the year.

The gardens were planted with several camellia and rhododendron some 50 years ago, when it was privately owned by Sir Clive Edwards. These once small plants have grown into beautiful small trees that are currently brimming with flowers.

From these lovely mature specimens, we have introduced many new varieties and species types, totalling 60 new Camellia introductions some 5 years ago. We planted these at 18 inches tall around the gardens and many have tripled in both size and bloom.

The fine Manx weather and soil has provided them with the perfect growing conditions, thriving in the dappled shade of our woodland.

There glossy green leaves and vast amount of flower buds showing a variety of different colours and flower types.

The wild garlic now in flower and the Gunnera is reaching for the skies.

So be sure to visit the gardens and see them whilst they are still out at this wonderful time of the year now the sun is finally shining!
